Teamsters Strike Natural Gas Line Construction sites In Pennsylvania

A dispute over pension benifits for truck drivers and other Teamster workers at natural gas pipeline construction sites in Pennsylvania has led to a walkout as called by union leadership. With many workers in the Marcellus shale regions of Pennsylvania earning twelve (12) dollars per hour and working large numbers of hours per week, the teamsters and other unions have been pressing to organize labor in the region and push for established benefits for current union members working in the Marcellus shale gas fields and in related businesses like truck driving. Gas company representatives are working with the unions to resolves the outstanding pension and other issues as the natural gas business continues to expand in Pennsylvania.
